Notes Exporter runs a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server on your Mac. MCP is the open standard AI tools use to reach external data — connecting it means Claude, Cursor, and VS Code can read your exported notes, contacts, conversations and Screen Time as context, locally.
setup
- Install Notes Exporter and export the sources you want available.
- Open the MCP section in the app — the server runs locally (localhost), and there is one-click connect for Claude, Cursor, and VS Code.
- Ask your AI tool about your own data. The server serves what you exported — nothing more.
why MCP instead of copy-paste
- the AI searches across everything you exported instead of what fits in one paste
- always current: exports sync in real time, so the answers reflect today's notes and messages
- scoped: only the sources you exported are visible
Examples: use Apple Notes in Claude.
