Notes Exporter runs a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server on your Mac. MCP is the open standard AI tools use to reach external data — connecting it means Claude, Cursor, and VS Code can read your exported notes, contacts, conversations and Screen Time as context, locally.

setup

  1. Install Notes Exporter and export the sources you want available.
  2. Open the MCP section in the app — the server runs locally (localhost), and there is one-click connect for Claude, Cursor, and VS Code.
  3. Ask your AI tool about your own data. The server serves what you exported — nothing more.

why MCP instead of copy-paste

  • the AI searches across everything you exported instead of what fits in one paste
  • always current: exports sync in real time, so the answers reflect today's notes and messages
  • scoped: only the sources you exported are visible

Examples: use Apple Notes in Claude.
